Ninja Theory has been working on Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice for quite some time and has been sharing the development progress of the game through development diaries. However, it has been a while since the studio shared any new details about the game and now the developers have revealed that they will be using live-action cutscenes in the game.

Ninja Theory posted a new video on their Twitter account which showcases these live-action cutscenes a bit and also explains why they had to use them for Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice. According to the devs, the reason why they used live-action cutscene is the limited budget. Due to a limited budget, the artists could not create and animate additional characters for Senua.

To overcome this problem they used actors and dressed them up and shot the scenes and implemented them in the game. In addition to this, the team also used a range of post-processing techniques to make sure these live-action scenes look and feel same as the gameplay and in the video it is almost impossible to spot the difference.

Hellblade is an upcoming action video game in development at Ninja Theory and will launch sometime in 2017 for PC and PlayStation 4.
