Games with Gold vs. PS Plus Free Games – Price Wars, Who Comes out on Top?

Microsoft and Sony recently unveiled their ‘Games with Gold’ and ‘Playstation Plus’ lineup of free games for the month of May 2017. Both the services have a history of incredible offerings, catering to a large audience of vastly different tastes. Surely, the services require users to pay a fixed subscription fee but the benefits certainly outweigh the cost. To give you a better understanding, ‘Games with Gold’ and ‘Playstation Plus’ offered well over $1,000 USD of free games in 2016. This is on top of special discounts and other services that Xbox Live Gold and Playstation Plus provide.

In this article, I have compared the free games offered by both the services over the past five months. It is important to note that the retail prices mentioned below are from the time of the promotion.

Until this point, it is evident that Sony has offered Playstation Plus free games worth of $490.70 while Microsoft has offered free games worth of $419.80. However, it goes without saying that an expensive game does not necessarily mean a better game. There are multiple factors that come into play when it comes to these subscriptions such as other discounts, community, and the overall quality of the games that are being offered. We, however, just wanted to compare things to give you an idea of what is being offered every month.
