In a rather surprising turn of events, Ubisoft’s online racer The Crew has reached 12 million players around the world. It is a big achievement for a title that released to mediocre reviews. Ubisoft thanked the community for their support and plan on supporting the game for a long time for a more enjoyable experience.

The developers shared their comments regarding the ever growing community and discussed their excitement for the future of this franchise. According to Stéphane “Fergus” Beley, Game Director, “Releasing The Crew was a childhood dream come true: building a whole universe dedicated to exploration, competition, adventure, and creating glorious moments with friends or solo, behind the wheel of our favorite rides.”

The game was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC two years ago and is one of the rare racing games to come out of Ubisoft, the creator of Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell. A better part of the community downloaded the game for free on PC last year. The Crew was developed by Ivory Tower, the studio was acquired by Ubisoft two years ago when The Crew crossed three million players worldwide.

Ubisoft will take the stage at E3 2017 where we may hear more about the game’s future content or a possible sequel to tackle EA’s possible Need for Speed reveal which is also expected at EA PLAY next month.
