Nintendo Predicts More Than One Nintendo Switch In Each Household As One Will Not Be “Enough”
Nintendo Switch has been very successful not only in Japan but also in the US. Recently, Nintendo revealed that the company expects Nintendo Switch to top Wii’s 100 million units sales but, that is not the only thing they expect of the hybrid console. According to Nintendo president, households around the world will soon realize that one Switch is not enough.
During the recent Nintendo’s earnings call Q&A, President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that revealed that the portable nature of the console increases its chances for multiple units within a home.
Considering that Nintendo Switch is a home console video game system that you can take with you on the go so you can play anytime, anywhere, with anyone, we think there will be households that feel as though one is not really enough. This is another point that drives us to match the scale of Wii’s popularity with Nintendo Switch.
While it may seem a bit over the top what Nintendo expects of the hybrid console but, it seems that it actually may be able to do just that because according to the console’s demographics, the core audience of the Nintendo Switch in a US household is pretty much the same as that of PS4 and Xbox One with 86% of the install base under 18 years of age while 69% falls within the 19-34 age group.
While, Switch has just launched over two months ago, but according to a report from Citigroup, despite Nintendo Switch being a hybrid console, it is still quite large for children and this could result in Nintendo releasing a Switch mini in FY2018.
