AMD Vega No Competition Against High-end GTX 10 Series GPUs According To Database Numbers

We were told previously that AMD Vega would be competitive against the GTX 1080 as well as the GTX 1080 Ti but new database numbers show that the AMD Vega GPU falls short and is not as great as we thought. According to the numbers, it is better than the previous Fury X GPUs but falls short of the GTX 1080.

Furthermore, we see that the GTX 1080 Ti has a major lead over the AMD Vega GPU and that even though the Vega GPU performs better as compared to the original Titan X it is no match for the Titan XP. You should take these numbers with a grain of salt as the GPU is not out yet and these numbers could change over time.

These numbers are no actual confirmation regarding the actual performance of the AMD Vega GPUs and we will have to see in-game performance numbers in order to come to a definite conclusion. These numbers are still very interesting to look at and consider. They seem a little off because AMD would not put in so much effort just to release GPUs that are marginally better than the Fury series.

These numbers seem a little off because AMD would not put in so much effort just to release GPUs that are marginally better than the Fury series. This is 1080p performance and seeing how this is a high-end GPU we could see better performance at higher resolutions. The new architecture uses HBM2 memory so it should be able to perform better than what we see here.

We talked about AMD Vega and how it holds up against Nvidia Volta. You can check out that article if you are interested.

Let us know what you think about these numbers and whether or not you are interested in buying an AMD Vega GPU this year.
