Tekken 7 Nintendo Switch Port Unlikely to Arrive Any Time Soon

There apparently won't be a Tekken 7 Nintendo Switch port for the time being, due to supply issues and working on the other three versions of the game.

If any fighting game fans that have been looking forward to Tekken 7 were planning to buy it on a Switch, they’re out of luck. There currently isn’t a Tekken 7 Nintendo Switch port in development, according to Bandai Namco, and it’s apparently because Nintendo Switches can’t be found on the shelves.

It’s no secret that since its release the Nintendo Switch has been experiencing a lot of supply issues, and according to Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray, the two big-wigs when dealing with Tekken, neither of them can find a Nintendo Switch to buy because they can’t stay on the shelves long enough.

Bandai Namco would likely require a Switch to serve as a proof-of-concept to see if becoming familiar with the system’s architecture to port the game would be worth it. Not to mention, the studio is already busy enough with working on the three different current versions of the game for the Playstation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

That’s not to say that there won’t be a Tekken 7 Nintendo Switch port ever, however. After the first three versions have been released (and the team can actually get a Switch) it’s likely that Bandai Namco and the Tekken dev team will have more time to discuss making a port.

Even then, Bandai Namco is a valued partner of Nintendo anyway; the company is already working on a port of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to go on the console. Plus, with the two companies being such close partners for the Switch, Nintendo fans may even get special guest fighters for that particular version, if Nintendo agrees and Bandai Namco thinks they can implement them properly.

Tekken 7 will be releasing on June 2 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. Hopefully, at some point, we’ll also be getting a Tekken 7 Nintendo Switch port for the game too.
