Nvidia GT 1030

The GT series has not been updated for the last 2 years and with the introduction of the RX 550, it seems that Nvidia has decided that it is time for a refresh. The Nvidia GT 1030 is supposed to be the last Pascal card to come out and we are expecting to see Nvidia Volta based GPUs by the end of the year. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance those GPUs will offer.

The Nvidia GT 1030 will be an entry-level GPU and it features 1 SM unit less than the GTX 1050 so you would not get much of a performance difference. The RX 550 is half that of the RX 560 so you can imagine the kind of performance that you will be able to get out of that GPU. We have the first leaked image of the GPU chip.

The Nvidia GT 1030 will not need any external power and will rely on the motherboard for all the power that it needs. This will be a great option under $100 for people that have already got a pre-built PC and just want to plug in a GPU and get into some light gaming. Online multiplayer games should work fine and you should get 60 FPS at 1080p without a problem.

Seeing how the GPU is under $100, it seems like good value for money and we have some benchmarks that should give you a good idea of what to expect from the GPU in terms of performance. You can check out images of the GPU here.

AMD was the first to introduce a GPU in the sub $100 price point but it seems that Nvidia is not going to let AMD have its day. Nvidia has decided to refresh the GT line in order to counter AMD at the sub $100 price point as well. The RX 550 will be coming up next month. The release date of the GT 1030 has yet to be revealed.

Let us know what you think about the GT 1030 and whether or not you are interested in getting one of these budget GPUs.
