The RX 580 is the new top of the line GPU from AMD’s Polaris lineup and like other vendors XFX is also introducing a custom version. The XFX RX 580 Black Wolf GTR is a GPU that overclocks to 1450 MHz which is a bit higher than the reference 1340 MHz. The GPU has the following specifications:

  • 2304 Stream Processors
  • XFX Trueclock Technology
  • 1430Mhz Boost Clock
  • GDDR5 8GB Memory

The XFX RX 580 Black Wolf GTR also features hard swap fans which are something that we have seen in the past. This makes it easier for the user to clean the fans and replace them as well. The fans also feature LED lighting and can be bought separately, so you can mix and match different fan colors. The only thing missing here is RGB lighting.

RGB would have made a big difference as users would only need one fan in order to get all the colors that their hearts desired. With LED lighting you will need to choose a color and then stick with it until you change the fans and get new ones. Still, this is not a deal breaker and I am sure that there are people that are willing to let go of RGB for the higher clock speed that the card manages to achieve.

The XFX RX 580 Black Wolf GTR is a great GPU for gaming on a budget, it will be able to run all games at 1080p and some games at 1440p as well. Plus you also have VR support. At such a price point getting VR support is a huge plus. You may want to check out VR gaming sometime down the line and at that point in time you will not have to get another GPU in order to power your VR headset.

Let us know what you think about the XFX RX 580 Black Wolf GTR and whether or not you are interested in buying one of these GPUs.
