Ea has finally revealed the much anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 2. Not only the game will be a significant improvement over the first one by having a single player campaign and ditching the season pass, but it seems that EA might be working on something to replace the season pass for Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Speaking with Mashable, creative director Bernd Diemer said that “we don’t have a season pass” and further teased that EA is working on “something different” in this area instead.

cannot talk about the specifics of this, but we have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community.

It seems that EA has listened to the fan feedback, as the season pass divided the community of the first game as those who don’t own the season pass or purchase the DLC they don’t get to play the newer maps.

He added that it is “dangerous” for the game’s player base because “the community is falling apart because there are simply not many people playing the different modes”.

We decided on that, and it’s one of those difficult decisions because it has so many implications all around. When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, ‘You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a first-person shooter in development at DICE and will launch this November for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
