Huawei Honor Becomes Exclusive Smartphone Partner of SK Gaming
SK Gaming has entered into a new smartphone partnership with Huawei Honor, one of the largest telecommunication equipment manufacturers in the world.
While majority of esports names have moved on to either consoles or desktop, SK Gaming is one of the few remaining western organizations that still dedicates resources to a mobile division. It made its debut in November 2015 by acquiring R3D Gaming to compete in Super Evil Megacorp’s multiplayer online battle arena video game, Vainglory. However, it is only now that SK Gaming has managed to find a sponsor for its mobile esports roster.
In an announcement on the official website, managing director Alexander T. Müller stated with confidence that Huawei Honor is the “perfect partner” for the team’s mobile division. The smartphone partnership also means that Huawei Honor 8 Pro users will be able to enjoy exclusive content, as well as participate in raffles, fan-meetups, and more.
“The SK Gaming team demands the highest quality from the equipment they use, which makes the new Honor 8 Pro the perfect fit,” said Marco Eberlein, general manager of Honor Germany. “Exciting gaming with amazing effects are now possible anytime with the high performance hardware and long battery life.”
This is not the first time that Huawei Honor has moved into esports. Earlier this year, it became the official sponsor to Polish esports organization Illuminar Gaming. The League of Legends team, however, lost in the finals of the 2016 European Challenger Series of the Spring Split. Soon after that, the team vanished. Thankfully, the experience didn’t deter Huawei Honor from washing its hands off esports. In that light, the new deal with SK Gaming may not be its first but is the most major in its history.
The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is being hailed as the best flagship smartphone from the Chinese company yet. Its strong specifications, optimized performance, sleek design, and more makes this a must to have for any smartphone enthusiast.
The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is scheduled to officially launched on April 20. Currently, it is available for pre-order in the United Kingdom for the introductory price of £474.
