Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Errors, Bugs, Crashes, Connection, Lag, Server, Loading, Low FPS and Fixes
Brendan Greene also known as Playerunknown is famous for his contributions in massively multiplayer online survival genre. We got to play ARMA battle royale, then there were DayZ and H1Z1. Now, Mr. Brendan has decided to make his own standalone game that is available on Steam in early Access.
Considering how popular the earlier survival MMOs were, players’ interest in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is not much of a surprise.
However, as mentioned before, the game is in early access and like many other early access games, players can encounter a plethora of bugs and issues.
The developer is working hard to fix the issues as fast as they can but in the meanwhile, if you are trying to find a workround/fix for the issue you are facing, the following troubleshooting listing can serve the purpose of assistance.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Errors, Bugs, Crashes and Their Fixes
#1 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Game Stuck at Loading
If you are facing this issues, there are a few things you can try out to fix it:
- First, if you are using Asian servers, try using a proxy to connect to servers of other regions as there have been some reports of servers issues.
- If that doesn’t help, make sure that your firewall or antivirus tool is not blocking the game.
- I am not sure but some people have also stated that connecting the game with a LAN cable in your machine helps to fix the problem.
- If you have any pending windows updates, complete them.
#2 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Connection Issues
Connection issues can be a common issue in online game and Battlegrounds is still in early access so you can imagine the possibility. However, there are few probable fixes you could try to resolve the issue.
- First things first, make sure that your firewall or antivirus isn’t blocking the game.
- Try to run the game as admin.
- Make sure that you don’t have any Windows updates pending.
#3 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Game Not Launching
First off, you start by verifying your game files. If that doesn’t help, make sure that you don’t have any pending Windows updates.
#4 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Full Screen Issue/Can’t See Anything
If you launch the game and get black screen or change some settings and get it then, you should add “-windowed” in launch options. This will launch the game in windowed and you will be able to change the settings.
#5 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Black Screen Issue
You try the fix mentioned in #4. Also, make sure that your drivers are up to date. If you are using a laptop, make sure that the game is being run by using the dedicated GPU and not the integrated one.
If that doesn’t work, go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor and delete the GameUserSettings.ini file. Launch the game again. It will create a new file for you and hopefully the default settings will work fine for you.
#6 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Screen Tearing Fix
If enabling Vsync for your GPU’s control panel (Geforce/AMD) hasn’t helped you, you might need to do some tweaking of your config file. The file you are looking for can be found in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor. If you can’t see any appData folder, make sure that your hidden files are shown.
Open the file using a text editor and find the value that says ” ViewDistance”. Reduce it to 0/1 (whatever works). This should fix the issue.
#7 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Key Mapping
Game’s default key mapping is somewhat tricky. You should make sure that there are not red spots for any un-mapped keys. All keys must be assigned. The order can change but no key should be left un-assigned.
If that doesn’t fix the issue for you, you should try deleting GameUserSettings.ini file in WindowsNoEditor folder (check #5).
#8 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Failed to Open Crate
The game is quite buggy in the current state so bugs like these can be quite prominent. While they try to fix these issues, it’s recommended that you don’t buy much stuff and wait for the more stable version of the game.
#9 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Server Status
Since the game’s playerbase is considerably large, server issues are expected to happen. So before you try out any connection fixes, it’s recommended that you check the server status here.
#10 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Performance Issues
First thing you should keep in mind that you can’t expect an early access game to be optimized enough to give you the exact same frame rates your card deserve. So yes, if you try to minimize the settings until more stable releases, that could solve a lot of problems.
Apart from that, you can always tweak GameUserSettings.ini file to optimize some parameters. If you are playing the servers of wrong region, it could also impact the performance of the game.
Make sure that your drivers are up to date and your system is good enough to handle the settings you are using.
This is a work in progress as the game is in early access. We will try to add more possible fixes with time. If you are facing any other issues, let us know in the comments below. If you have any fix of your own, don’t hesitate to share it with others.
