U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has published a new patent which reveals that Apple is considering an iPhone Laptop Dock, a device that converts iPhone into a laptop.

According to a report from Apple insider, the iPhone Laptop Dock will be designed to look like a MacBook with Apple’s signature aluminum construction.

According to the report, while plugged in the iPhone Laptop Dock, the iPhone will provide the CPU and operating system to the dock.

The dock will not only convert the mobile device into a laptop with a large screen and a keyboard but could also boost its capabilities with GPU, extra connectivity options, battery expansion, and more.

The report further notes that iPhone 7 Plus is pretty much similar to the touchpad of the newly released MacBook Pro model. The phone is more than capable of handling force-touch input and haptic feedback.

That is not all! In the document, a design of iPad dock has also been put forward by Apple, which you can see in the image below. iPad will become the screen with a regular multi-touch pad situated in the palm rest area below the keyboard.

The report also notes that these dock designs are highly unlikely to make it to the market given the company’s stance on portable computing and the recent campaign have been marketing the iPad Pro as a replacement for Laptops.

However, given that the document got published, Apple might be considering to bring these designs into the market to boost the appeal for iOS devices.

Also, there are rumors circulating the internet regarding the iPhone 8. According to the latest rumors, iPhone 8 will feature only 64 GB and 256 GB variants.
