Nier Automata director, Taro Yoko,  has been in the gaming industry since when he was a young man. He is one of the most renowned directors around and he is loved for his work on Nier games.

He recently talked about his early development days and how his dream was to freely create the game he wanted. However, during his early days, there were some cranky old men who limited the creativity of Taro Yoko.

He promised himself that he would never be like them but sadly, he now considers himself to be the same kind of person.

Now that I have fulfilled my dream to ‘create a game that I like,’ there’s not much left for me to do. However, because I don’t have much else to do now, I am clinging onto my job as a game director. In a way, I’m just living out of habit now. And now, I have become that troublesome elder that I hated when I was young. Like a demon king in an RPG, I feel like I’m clinging to my castle of authority all alone and waiting for a new hero to come slay me.

Nier Automata director should consider leaving the gaming world if he feels that way. It would be a great loss to have someone of his caliber take off.

Nier Automata is now available on PlayStation 4 and PC. There are no plans for a Xbox One version of the game.
