The ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC is one of the best-looking GTX 1080 Ti models that we have seen so far and it has all the bells and whistles that you could ask for in a high-end GPU.

There is no denying that this GPU is a premium product and if the reference design does not get you 60 FPS at 4K then this version will.

ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC Specifications

The ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC has RGB compatibility so if you have an RGB compatible motherboard you can sync the lights and do all kinds of fancy stuff to bling up your rig. The GPU can be overclocked beyond 2 GHz and has better cooling as compared to the reference design.

The following spec sheet tells you everything about the GPU that you need to know:

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC Gaming Benchmarks

Here you will be able to see how well the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manages to run games at 4K and how it compares to the reference design Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti. The following are the benchmarks that you might be interested in.

Just Cause 3

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

When it comes to Just Cause 3 in 4K, the Asus GTX 1080 Ti manages to achieve 72.2 FPS which is a bit more than the 70.2 FPS that the reference design is able to manage.

The Titan XP was only able to muster up 68.2 FPS. Seeing how the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC costs much less than the Titan XP it offers great performance for the price.

Mafia 3

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

Testing Mafia 3 at 4K, it is interesting to see that both the GTX 1080 Ti models are unable to achieve 60 FPS. I doubt that this is something to do with the GPU, rather it is more related to the optimization of the game.

While the reference design achieved 42.6 FPS the Asus version managed 43.4 FPS which is not much of an improvement over the reference model. It should be noted here that the much more expensive Titan XP also performed the same as the reference design.

Rainbow Six Seige

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

Here we see that both the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC and the reference design are able to manage more than 60 FPS at 4K. The ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC mustered up 86.3 FPS while the reference design was just on its tail with 83.7 FPS. The Titan XP managed 82.3 FPS which is lower than the reference design.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a very beautiful game, especially at 4K and if you are a fan of the game then you will be glad to know that both the reference design as well as the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manage to achieve close to 60 FPS at 4K.

The ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manages 56.2 FPS, the reference design, on the other hand, is not far behind at 52.7 FPS and just to give you a comparison the Titan XP manages 51.1 FPS.

Shadow Warrior 2

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

We see a minor difference in performance here as well. Running the game at 4K we see that while the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manages to run the game at 70 FPS the reference design is not too far off and is able to run the game at 67.2 FPS. The Titan XP, in this case manages 64.2 FPS.

The Wither 3

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

The trend is the same when it comes to The Witcher 3 as well. The ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manages to run the game at 63 FPS while the reference design is unable to run the game at the 60 FPS mark and falls a bit short at 59.3 FPS. We have the Titan XP running the game at 56.6 FPS on average.

ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX Overclocked Battlefield 1 Benchmarks 1440p

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

When it comes to Battlefield 1 at 1440p we see that the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC manages to run the game at 214.2 FPS and the same card out of the box runs the game at 198.7. At 1440p the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti reference design runs the game at 186 FPS, this can be considered as a significant improvement over the performance of the reference design.

We can see here that Pascal has some headroom for overclocking and with the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC you can get a performance increase of a little over 7% when the GPU is overclocked. Nvidia has marketed this GPU as a card that will be able to perform well at 4K and will be overclockable. These benchmarks show that to be true in most cases.

ROG GTX 1080 Ti

The GTX 1080 has been the flagship 10 series Pascal GPU for a year now but the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti is now taking its place. The GTX 1080 Ti is the fastest GPU that the company has to offer, at least when it comes to gaming. It is interesting to see that you can get even more performance if you choose to buy a partner card with aftermarket cooling.

Let us know what you think about this performance comparison between the ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti STRIX OC and the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti reference design.
