Square Enix Explains Why Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Is Being Remastered
For those of you who missed the original release of Final Fantasy XII for PS2 will get a chance to play the game on PS4 as Square Enix will launch a remaster for the game this summer. There have been a lot of Final Fantasy titles over the years and Square Enix has explained why they are specifically bringing Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age back.
In an interview with Gamestop, producer Hiroaki Kato was asked why they chose Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age to being on PS4 over other mainline Final Fantasy titles.
Since we worked on the original XII, we have a lot of memories associated with that title. And when Final Fantasy X came out as an HD remaster on the PS4 and became a successful title, we thought that maybe we should bring this one back as well. So we brought together the core members of the original development team.
Another reason was that when we created the original XII, we actually made it relatively high spec. So we were always thinking that we wanted to create an HD version of it sometime in the future. But if we did that, I wanted to have the original members work on it as well. It was difficult trying to find a time when everyone could work together again, just because everyone was on different projects.
Square Enix is also working on Final Fantasy VII remake that will be released in episodic format. The remake will have some differences from the original which also includes combat. According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII Remake combat is not command based but it will be action based.
Final Fantasy VII remake is an action RPG in development at Square Enix and will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4.
