Faction War in For Honor in the continuous battle among different factions in the game that wish to claim the most territory and get their hands on end-of-the-season rewards.
It’s important to note that Faction War is much more than just winning Multiplayer Matches and having a large number of Faction Members. There are intricate strategies involved which if not followed can lead to a faction failing.
For Honor Faction War Guide
In our For Honor Faction War Guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to know about Faction War, Faction Territories, War Assets, Season Rewards.
For Honor Understanding Faction War
Everything you do in For Honor Multiplayer contributes to Faction War which is always running in the background.
It isn’t a separate Multiplayer Mode, but is influenced by the Multiplayer Matches won/lost by the members of a faction and War Assets awarded to these members.
For Honor Choosing Your Faction
Immediately after firing up the game, you’re asked to select a faction. Once done, you’ll contribute to your faction throughout the course of your journey.
One important thing that you should understand is that your faction doesn’t restrict you to specific heroes. Lastly, you’re free to change your faction anytime you see fit.
For Honor Faction Territories
After diving into the Multiplayer Mode, you should be able to see a large overworld map divided into different colored territories. In the game, these colored territories are sub-divided and players can place War Assets into them via Options Menu.
Therefore, these territories will shift depending on different faction members winning/losing Multiplayer Matches and on the distribution of War Assets. This thing basically has two effects which are mentioned below:
Firstly, it determines your faction’s overall standing in the Faction War. Secondly, it changes the variation of the Multiplayer Map you play on. For instance, even Citadel Gate can become a snowfield if playing in the Viking-controlled territory.
For Honor Understanding War Assets
You essentially need War Assets in order to control the overworld map. War Assets are awarded to everyone at the end of a Multiplayer Match.
You can place these War Assets via the Options Menu to control a specific territory or let the AI do it which isn’t recommended!
One important thing that you should know is the number of War Assets awarded to a particular faction increase drastically if the said faction is underpopulated and vice versa. It’s done in order to make the game a balanced, enjoyable experience for everyone.
For Honor War Seasons
One of the first things that you need to know is that the Faction War is cross-platform. It basically means that the distribution of War Assets, territory layout, and the entire Faction War is shared across PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
However, the actual For Honor Multiplayer is not cross-platform so don’t get your hopes up! It means that you can freely discuss War Faction strategies with your friends and buddies online.
There are five turns in a season. At the end of the fourth turn, the season ends and the faction that controls the most territory wins the season. This allows the members of the winning faction to win customization items and other goodies which can’t be earned through any other means.
As mentioned earlier, you’re free to change your faction anytime you desire, but remember that it’ll deprive you of all the end-of-the-season rewards even if your faction wins.
