The end of 2016 was not so great for EVGA as a couple of EVGA GTX 1080s and 1070s were catching fire due to a thermal issue with the GPUs. Since then the company has taken responsibility for the issue and has replaced the GPUs and provided proper cooling pads for the GPUs that did not have them.

It is safe to say that this incident lead to a major hit in companies image. The company is now looking to redeem itself with the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2.

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 features a blend of new technologies that help reduce the temperature of your GPU. There are 9 thermal sensors embedded in the GPU that monitor the temperature and heat dissipations of the GPU and interacts accordingly. The GPU features two fans, the sensors can detect the temperature of different parts of the GPU and allow the fans to spin at speeds independent of one another.

The EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 features a base plate as well as a backplate to make the card more rigid and allow for better heat dissipations.  This is a serious statement that EVGA is making here.
