P.T Silent Hills was going to be the very first Hideo Kojima horror game with Norman Reedus and Guillermo Del Toro. It was a unique project in terms of its design, similar to Resident Evil 7, but sadly the game got scrapped.

Hideo Kojima is the creator of Metal Gear Solid games and had been looking to diversify to different genres for a long time. However, he was kept busy with MGS games so when Silent Hills came to be, Hideo Kojima was happy to be working on something different. The cancellation of Silent Hills was heartbreaking for the community as well as Hideo Kojima.

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that he won’t be making another horror game which we thought was due to the cancellation of Silent Hills and the falling out with Konami. Interestingly, that is not the reason why Hideo Kojima will not work on another horror game.

Speaking to IGN, Kojima-san said:

I get scared very easily. Actually, this is true of Alfred Hitchcock as well as Steven Spielberg. Because they scare easily, because I scare easily, it’s actually easy for us to make something that is scary, because we understand what is scary.

But while in that process, we’re constantly imagining, like, terrifying situations so it ends up giving me bad dreams. That’s the reason why I don’t want to make a horror game.

Kojima-san is working on Death Stranding for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. The game features Norman Reedus and Guillermo Del Toro. According to Kojima-san, Death Stranding will release sometime before 2019.
