Overwatch Shouldn’t Support Mouse-Keyboard on Consoles

While PC players get the upper hand in Overwatch with access to mouse and keyboard, console players can connect a mouse and keyboard to their consoles as well but it seems that Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan does not want that to happen.

“We have contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices”

While traditional players play the game with controllers there are players that play Overwatch with a mouse and keyboard and some people are raising the question of whether or not this should be considered cheating. Until now we have seen that the developer has been very active when it comes to take feedback into consideration and this is a great example of just that.

“We have lobbied and will continue to lobby for first-party console manufacturers to either disallow mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices or openly and easily support mouse and keyboard for all players. I encourage you to reach out to the hardware manufacturers and express your concerns (but please do so in a productive and respectful way)”

We all know that keyboard and mouse offer greater accuracy when it comes to first person shooter games and being someone that plays the game on PC I do not see why this would be an issue but I can also see how this could be unfair for people that are playing with regular controllers. We will have to wait and see how this plays out.

If I had to guess I would say that mouse and keyboard support will be banned from the console version of Overwatch in order to make it a more balanced and fair game for everyone. Let us know what you think about this.
