Helen DLC Rumored for Street Fighter V, Comes With Rekkas

By   /   Feb 2, 2017

If rumors are to be believed, Capcom is preparing to announce Helen as the next character addition for the second season of Street Fighter V.

The agent of the Illuminati made her debut as a non-playable character in the Street Fighter III series as Kolin. Changing her name to Helen, she returned in the new Street Fighter V installment to revive the corpse of Charlie Nash. Until now, her role in the game is restricted to the story-line. However, that may change this month.

Capcom is teaming up with American rapper Lupe Fiasco for an exclusive event on February 15 to celebrate his new album as well as the launch of the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour season. In addition, the developer will also be announcing the second DLC character for Street Fighter V.

Coincidence or not, the scheduled date for the event is just one day after the birthday of Helen. Furthermore, a Reddit thread from earlier today claims to have inside information about the character through Arturo “Sabin” Sanchez.

Based on the information provided, the character will be boasting her original Kolin name in the game. She has the ability to drop blocks of ice over opponents, which can also be executed in mid-air.

Kolin is another character in Street Fighter V with a two-bar V-Trigger. When activated, Kolin freezes the entire floor and the opponent with it. Furthermore, she features rekkas that begin with a back-dash. The normal version grants invincibility on the third attack while the EX version grants invincibility on every rekka.

The Street Fighter X Lupe Fiasco launch party will take place at Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, California, the same venue where the rapper battled Daigo “The Beast” Umehara in an exhibition match last year.

According to the promotional flier, the main event will be a rematch between Capcom Cup finalists Du “NuckleDu” Dang and Ricki “Ricki Ortiz” Ortiz. Other notable exhibitions include Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez taking on Daigo “The Beast” Umehara and Justin “JWong” Wong facing off against Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis. Those unable to attend in person will be able to stream the event live.
