Backwards Compatibility Needs To Be Preserved “As Long As Possible”, Says Phil Spencer
Backwards compatibility is one of the many strong points for Xbox One and fans are quite happy with the feature as it let them play their Xbox 360 titles on current gen Xbox console. Holiday 2017 will see the launch on Xbox One Scorpio which will also support this feature and according to Phil Spencer, it is a valuable feature for the company.
A fan asked Xbox head, Phil Spencer, if the future Xbox consoles will also support Backwards compatibility? To this, he replied that while it is difficult to predict the future but Backwards compatibility is a valuable feature and should be preserved.
It’s challenging to predict the future, but for me, compatibility is a feature we should preserve as long as possible.
It seems that Microsoft is very interested in the idea of backwards compatibility as many Xbox 360 titles are already available to be played on Xbox One through this feature.
However, backwards compatibility is not the only feature Microsoft is looking into as recently the company announced that Cross Play multiplayer between PC and Xbox One for Gears Of War 4 is coming back.
