Halo Wars 2 will also have HDR 10 support on Nvidia hardware. This is great news for PC gamers but only if we have HDR monitors available to us. Many companies are working on HDR monitors but it would take another year or so for the technology to spread.
HDR is all the rage right now and it is good to see developers taking the time to implement this technology. HDR is becoming a norm on consoles already thanks to Xbox One S, Project Scorpio, PlayStation 4 Pro, and an update from Sony that made all 50 million+ PS4 units HDR compatible.
On a related note, Halo Wars 2 will have not have HDR support on Xbox One S. According to Clay Jensen:
Wish that I could say yes. Unfortunately, we are not going to have HDR support for Halo Wars 2. We do support 4K on PC, which looks gorgeous, and you definitely need to play that because it’s stunning.
This doesn’t mean that players should lose hope; developers may add HDR support down the line so there keep your fingers crossed!
Halo Wars 2 is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC next month. Meanwhile, Mass Effect: Andromeda is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and EA origin PC on March 21.
How to do think HDR will change the way we play games in the future?
