Ninja Gaiden Needs “To Be In The Shadows For A While”, Says Team Ninja
Fans are still waiting for Team Ninja to release the next entry in the Ninja Gaiden franchise. With Nioh gone gold fans have hopes that the studio might consider developing the next Ninja Gaiden. But it seems that Team Ninja has other plans.
Creative director at Team Ninja, Tom Lee, has told UsGamer that they would not be able to call themselves as Team Ninja if they decided to kill the Ninja Gaiden franchise. However, he added that the franchise needs to be in the shadows for now until they decide to bring it back.
Maybe I can say that Nioh is a gateway into the next chapter for Ninja Gaiden. [Ninja Gaiden] is a very important, if not the most important franchise, for us. But at this point, I think this franchise needs to be in the shadows for a while until we bring it back. There will be a time, and when the time is right, we will bring it back.
The next project from Team Ninja is Nioh which is a PlayStation exclusive and will launch next month. Nioh is one of the most anticipated games of 2017 and like many RPGs the game will be quite lengthy. According to the game director Fumihiko Yasuda, Nioh will take 70 hours to complete and if players grind for better weapons and XP then it will take much longer than that to complete it.
It seems that Team Ninja is giving Ryu Hayabusa some well-deserved rest and if Nioh does well both financially and critically then we might see a fresh start for Ninja Gaiden on the current gen consoles.
Do you think Team Ninja should develop a new game in the Ninja Gaiden franchise or let it be in the shadows for the time being? Let us know in the comments.
