It has been confirmed that Nintendo Switch is planned to receive Neo Geo games including Metal Slug, King of Fighters, and more.

The Japanese publisher, Hamster Corporation, is bringing 5 Neo Geo games to Nintendo’s hybrid-console through its Arcade Archive series.

Nintendo Switch Planned to Receive Neo Geo Games

The games are currently only confirmed to release in Japan but we will share more information once we get any confirmation for the Western markets. All 5 games will release shortly after the console’s launch in March and each one will cost around ¥823.

The games confirmed to launch include Metal Slug 3, World Heroes Perfect, Shock Troopers, The King of Fighters ’98, and Waku Waku 7. Given the fact that Neo Geo games were a part of Nintendo’s Wii U Virtual Console, this is not really a huge surprise.

Being a huge King of Fighters fan since the good old Fatal Fury days, I’m more than excited to see Street Fighter II and KOF 98 on Nintendo Switch. While I can certainly hold my own using the analogue sticks on the controllers, I would have absolutely loved to see d-pad on Joy-Cons.

Nintendo Switch is scheduled to release on Mar. 03, 2017 in the US, Japan, Hong Kong, some European countries, and other territories.

These are great additions to the console’s lineup. Now all I want is Nintendo to continue expanding the catalogue with the likes of more KOF titles, Blue’s Journey, Aero Fighters; and I will be a happy man.

What other Neo Geo games are you looking forward to trying out on Nintendo Switch? Don’t forget to let us know in the comments section below!
