There’s a new CS:GO mod in town which recreates the game in more than one way, allowing veteran players to relive their golden Counter-Strike 1.6 days.

The mod is called Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive and is designed to deliver a classic experience inside the newer Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

All character and weapon models have been reverted to those from the older title. The newer sound and particle effects have been removed and replaced with the original versions. Additionally, the original maps of Dust 2, Inferno, Mirage, and Italy have also made their way to Global Offensive.

“The main goal of the mod is to get the gameplay from 1.6 right into CS:GO including weapons, sounds, movement, all the old stuff you’ve dreamed to see in CS:GO,” promises modder and creator Z00L.

Counter-Strike 1.6 is undoubtedly one of the best first-person shooters in history. It wasn’t just a good game but also one that sparked the multiplayer trend. It’s impossible for any video game enthusiast to not have tried out the title at least once.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive changed the experience in various aspects. As it is with human tendencies, many still wish to return to the glorious older ways. The new CS:GO mod ensures this by satisfying your nostalgia.

Some professional players have already given the mod a try and exclaimed enjoyment. Spencer “Hiko” Martin from Team Liquid, for one, can be often seen on his streams playing the mod. He too is loving the experience.

Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive is expected to receive additional updates and support for further improvements.
