More Than 5 Million Gear VR Headset Have Been Sold, Samsung Confirms
Virtual reality was an instant hit among the gamers and general users ever since it got announced and last year VR was one of the most talked about piece of technology. VR was not only released for gaming purposes only as Samsung also released its GEAR VR headset for watching movies and stuff.
Now Samsung has revealed the amount of Gear VR present in consumer’s hands globally. Samsung announced during CES 2017 that more than 5 million Gear VR headsets have been sold.
The company did not reveal any sales figures of the apps for the VR headsets but revealed that users have watched more than 10 million hours of video on the Gear VR headset. According to the company, currently Samsung VR is one of the top applications on Gear VR and contains more than 1,200 360 videos for the headsets.
Ever since the VR headsets were released many developers have taken advantage of this technology. Resident Evil 7 is the latest example as the game will be playable in VR and will be exclusive to PSVR for one year.
Speaking of the game another rumor is making rounds on the internet that Resident Evil 7 will release for Nintendo Switch and will also support VR on the upcoming console. The report also suggests that developers are facing difficulties while making the game playable in VR on Nintendo Switch as it takes a lot of power.
