Resident Evil 7 Demo Datamine Hints At A Returning Character
Resident Evil 7 is creeping closer and closer, and even though the demo is finally fully released and terrifying, people haven’t stopped looking for clues on what all they’ll be getting when the actual full game comes out in January of next year. Most recently, a Resident Evil 7 demo datamine has hinted at a returning character.
Even when the base game had come out, players were hypothesizing that Ada Wong, the mysterious antiheroine that shows up in nearly every mainline Resident Evil game (particularly when Leon is involved) is the speaker on the other end of the ringing phone. Now, through the Resident Evil 7 demo datamine, it would appear there’s another returning character.
The central protagonist of Resident Evil 7 isn’t going to be anyone we’re familiar with, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t still get some villain actions. The datamine found various lines of code talking about weapons, with one particular name quite clearly visible: Albert.
Any Resident Evil fan familiar with the series would know that there’s only one character with that name: the “main” series antagonist Albert Wesker, the now-superhuman traitorous captain of the STARS team and creator of Resident Evil 5’s Ouroboros virus.
If Wesker is actually in the game, possibly even the final boss of the game, considering his capabilities the player might have to use all of their skills in order to beat him, especially given how hard his fights were with the various other protagonists.
Other little tidbits that were found in the Resident Evil 7 demo datamine includes the possibility of multiple endings (including a “bad” and “true” ending much like the demo). There’s a full list on the NEOgaf thread that revealed the datamine, and it includes a weapon list, various NPCs, DLC slots, and more for the game.
Resident Evil 7 will be coming out for the Xbox One, the Playstation 4, and PC.
