Call of Duty Infinite Warfare DLC

The first screenshot of the upcoming first Call of Duty Infinite Warfare DLC has been put on the Internet by Infinity Ward, along with the rather ominous title of “Something evil is lurking in the woods.” While there’s no indication of what the DLC might entail (though it’ll release in January, apparently), it may be another horror movie send-up.

Recent Call of Duty games have often included at least one spooky map that somehow connects to a horror movie character, such as Jason Voorhees or Michael Meyers, which both have showed up in other Call of Duty games.

However, this new screenshot (showing a log cabin in the middle of the woods, with an odd swirling symbol carved on a tree in the foreground) may not even be referring to any horror movie.

Instead, it might just be a new zombies map, only in a log cabin instead of a campy amusement park. However, we’ll have to wait and see what Infinity Ward announces in the meantime. Since we only have a screenshot as an indicator for what the new Call of Duty Infinite Warfare DLC will involve, we at least know something of what to expect.

We can probably expect to see new weapons and new maps, maybe even some new equipment for our characters.

A “cabin in the woods” variety of horror movie isn’t actually that unique (Friday the 13th did it first and stupid people going into the woods hunted by a killer isn’t anything new either), but hopefully it’ll be given its own bit of flavor.

Otherwise, we’ll just have to start guessing what this new screenshot will actually involve, whether it’s another horror movie send-up, or a new zombies map that’s basically the Resident Evil 4 cabin siege sequence, hopefully the new Call of Duty Infinite Warfare DLC will be able to improve on the game’s multiplayer and be able to revitalize the game’s flagging sales.
