Sony Interactive Entertainment Denies Rumors About Merger With Sony Pictures
Recently, rumors about Sony Interactive Entertainment merging with Sony Pictures into one entity under the leadership of current PlayStation chief Andrew House started to make rounds on the internet. Now Sony has officially stated that there is no truth to the rumor.
The rumor stems from the fact that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s gaming business is soaring as PlayStation 4 has sold over 50 million units and on the other hand Sony Pictures is not doing great despite having some big movie franchises under it.
A spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment has stated that their no truth to the rumors.
This is nothing but baseless rumor and speculation. There are no plans for Andrew House to oversee Sony Pictures.
Sony Pictures is currently working on Uncharted movie and the company has acquired the services of Shawn Levy to direct the Uncharted movie.
Those who don’t know, Shawn Levy had been the executive producer for Netflix breakout series Stranger Things, and he also directed episodes of the series and will also direct episodes for Stranger Things season 2.
Levy has also produced the upcoming Denis Villenueve-directed Arrival, starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
Sony Pictures has also acquired the services of Joe Carnahan for writing the latest draft of the script for the Uncharted movie. Joe Carnahan himself wanted to direct the movie but could not do it because of his busy schedule as he is set to direct Bad Boys 3.
Uncharted is not the only video game series which is making its way to the big screen, as Gears Of War movie is also in pre-production. Recently, The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson announced that the movie will be produced by Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films.
