Intel Core i7-7700K CPU Overclocked To 4.9 GHz Hits 100C
The Intel core i7-7700K CPU is the upcoming flagship when it comes to the Kaby Lakes series of CPUs. While some may think that they should have the “latest and greatest” when it comes to Kaby Lake, you might want to think again. The Intel Kaby Lake series will be coming out in January at CES 2017.
A PC enthusiast that works in the PC industry has tested the Intel core i7-7700K CPU and he has found that the CPU overclocks to 4.9 GHz but the temperature hits 100C which is off the charts for a CPU and is nowhere even close to safe. Of course, there was thermal throttling as well. Here you can see the benchmarks that have been conducted on the Intel core i7-7700K CPU.
As of right now it is not sure which heatsink was being used for these tests. Looking at these tests you will wonder if the thermals for the Kaby Lake are worth the upgrade. Other reports also claim that while the Intel Core i7-7700K CPU is faster than the previous generation 6700K, if you are not monitoring FPS constantly you will not be able to tell the difference. This means that the difference is not significant.
When it comes to Kaby Lake Intel core i7-7700K CPU, I would agree with others that this is not worth the upgrade. The performance increase is not significant enough to justify the added head dissipation. If you do not have proper cooling then you will be unable to get anything out of this CPU anyways, so why go through the trouble in the first place?
If you want to buy the latest flagship CPU then be my guest but these benchmarks should be warning enough. What do you think about the Intel core i7-7700K CPU? Will you be upgrading your setup?
