Capcom Removed The Infamous Timer From Dead Rising 4 So They Can Keep Making Sequels
Capcom is getting rid of the infamous timer, that differentiated the franchise, in Dead Rising 4. While many fans were disappointed by its removal, there are fans who are happy about this decision. However, there will be a timer in Dead Rising 4 but will only be available at the end of the singleplayer campaign.
Speaking with GamesIndustry, executive producer Bryce Cochrane explained the reason to remove the timer from Dead Rising 4. According to Bryce, Capcom decided to remove the timer because they want to make sequels to the game and that requires changes.
One of our goals is to really make a product that means we can make Dead Rising 5, 6, 7.
That involves expanding and changing the franchise, and therefore sometimes we need to take risks. That means some people will be upset with what you did. The only way to truly tell if we made the right choices is to play the game.
Recently, producer David McAnerin revealed that Dead Rising 4 will have a co-op mode but it will not be featured in the singleplayer campaign. He explained that in the co-op mode, players will start in a safe house and its just killing, mayhem, and madness.
Yeah, we have an online four player mode. So, in the story mode, it’s a single player story mode, you’re going to play just as Frank…The four player co-op is our multiplayer mode. It’s a little bit inspired by the original Infinity mode for the old school fans.
Dead Rising 4 is an open-world horror survival game in development at Capcom Vancouver and is scheduled to launch on December 6, 2016 for PC and Xbox One.
