Fans were quite disappointed with the cancellation of Fable Legends and the devs did not even explain the reason behind it. However, series creator still has not given up hope for developing Fable 4.

Speaking with OXM, Fable series creator Peter Molyneux said that he would love to make Fable 4 and also revealed how the studio used to upset Microsoft.

It’s crazy that Fable IV isn’t being made. I would love to do Fable IV, and the studio tried to do it. You’d have to get the original team back together though.

He further described how he and his team sometimes upset Microsoft with their sense of humor which he associated with being a typical British studio.

I think it was the sense of humor. You know the British, slightly politically incorrect sense of humor, especially with Fable, where we had prostitutes and same-sex marriage. Microsoft were appalled, you know, they were busily going around trying to rub all the nipples out of all the women just not to offend people.

[The] things [Lionhead designer] Mark Healy would put in–if you play Black & White you notice that all the totems are completely phallic, just penises everywhere.

However, Fable fans still have a reason to be happy as ex-Lionhead studio developers have co-founded a new indie development studio called Flaming Fowl Studios. The studio is currently working on new Fable card game, Fable Fortune.

Microsoft has given the studio its support to use the Fable license to develop their game, however, the studio does not have a publisher for its game. So, the studio has turned to crowdfunding to complete its project.

Fable Fortune is a collectible card game that will feature RPG style quests much like the older Fable games and currently no release date has been announced for the game.
