By the way, how many of you remember the story of WWE 2K games?
Some years ago, it was THQ was the one who owned rights of this series.
It was originally called SmackDown!, after WWE bought SmackDown television program. The first game released was WWE SmackDown! in March 2000, available for Sony consoles only. Afterwards, the series was re titled SmackDown! vs. Raw, stressing the fact that the Raw brand was also featured.
Within a few years, the series had an incredible expansion, passing to an yearly release and getting a mobile version of the games.
Things were going good, but unfortunately THQ declared bankruptcy and after company’s dissolution in 2013, the rights of the series were acquired by Take-Two Interactive, that retained the services of Yuke’s (one of the companies working with THQ on WWE games) and the THQ staff that worked on the series until that moment.
So, the series was renamed to WWE 2K and since then, WWE games sales are going extremely good, with a lot of people playing it from different parts of the world.
WWE 2K17 is already out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
