Speaking with GameInformer, the producer Mike Gamble revealed that on every planet there will be a hostile force that has to be disbanded.

On most planets there is some level of hostile force, and usually that will be represented by enemy bases or hideouts or whatever you want to call them specific to that planet

Game director Mac Walters added that these bases are quite big and players are required to be prepared before they go marching in and dismantling these bases is not going to be a walk in the park.

These bases are pretty lengthy to take out, so if you approach one, you want to be prepared before you into it. It’s fun, because there’s a combination of systemic and scripted stuff in there. If you tip off too many enemies, the alarms start going off and you have to shut them off. And there’s usually narrative tied around it.

Gamble further detailed the giant bosses that players will encounter in their journey and there will be a lot of these monsters in the game.

You’ll find creatures and encounters that are so far over-leveled to where you’re at naturally on these areas and you can tell right away. We have a lot of other things like that, where you’ll know that you’re not ready for this, but you’ll know you want to come back.

On planets, players will also find objects that they can scan and send the information back to the ship to be analyzed. This can be used to collect items for crafting.

There will be drop zones in Mass Effect Andromeda which will serve as fast travel points or players can tweak their load-out at these points. Locating these points will reveal points of interest on the map. However, Gamble added that the devs do not want to give you just map markers to follow.

Mass Effect Andromeda will launch in March 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
