The Last Guardian is finally going to launch next month and fans are excited to get their hands on the game. While the game took 8 years to be developed, there would have been a lot of things changed during this time, but according to devs the vision for the game never changed, and the game was designed to be timeless.

Speaking with Gamespot, game designer, Fumito Ueda, discussed different aspects of the game. According to the designer, even it took 8 years for the team to develop The Last Guardian, but what players will see in the final product is our original vision for the game.

We carried out what we set out to do, and it’s the original vision that we now see in this completed game. Sure, over the course of years, a lot of things have changed.

He further added that from the start the team wanted to create a game that will be timeless and we have been successful in doing so.

But we knew from the very beginning that we wanted to create something that was timeless, something that was going to last a very long time–that was going to hold up for “X” amount of years. I think Sony as a whole understood that from the very beginning. It really did matter for the Last Guardian that we’ve remained true to the original vision and carried that out.

While Ueda has spent years developing the game, but he won’t be playing it for almost a year after its launch. According to the designer, the reason behind this decision is that he will only see the flaws in his game.

The Last Guardian is set to launch on December 6, 2016 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
