Football Manager 2017 Errors, Crashes, Memory Leak, Lag, Performance, Black Screen and Fixes
Football Manager (also known as Championship Manager once) has come a long way since its inception. The series has managed to build a great fan-base and like other sports games, it also receives yearly treatment. This year’s installment is Football Manager 2017 and overall, the game looks a solid addition to the series and has managed to secure descent reviews.
Performance wise, the game has a few hiccups that can be expected from a new PC release. So we shortlisted the common problems that have been reported about the game along with their possible fixes.
Football Manager 2017 Errors, Crashes and Fixes
#1 Football Manager 2017 Empty Stadiums
If the stadiums are empty during matches, then you should make sure that the crowd option in the settings is ticked. It might be disabled by default so you can enable it via options. If it does not work, you should try verifying your game files via Steam.
#2 Football Manager 2017 Out of Memory Error
First, you should make sure that you have enough memory available for the game. Check the system requirements here. If limited memory is not an issue, you should try to increase the default memory page file size for your operating system. You can find a tutorial here.
Also, if you are using any custom content, try disabling it.
If the crash is occasional, you should try to close some background applications. For example, google chrome can eat up a lot of your memory. If nothing helps, you should contact support and let them know about your issue.
#3 Football Manager 2017 Mouse Cursor Does Not Appear In-Game
First thing you should do is verify you game files via Steam. If that doesn’t work, you should try to run the game in windowed mode and to do that:
- Open Steam and go to your game library.
- Right-click on Football Manager 2017/Properties/General/Set Launch Options
- Type “-small_screen -windowed” in the box without inverted commas.
- Click OK and launch Football Manager 2017 again.
This should make the mouse appear.
#4 Football Manager 2017, Can’t Accept Terms and Conditions
You should try the fix mentioned in #3 to make the mouse appear and then you will be able to accept terms and conditions. Also, make sure that your screen resolution is same as that of your screen and you don’t have the multiple display enabled from the windows display settings.
#5 Football Manager 2017 Poor Performance
There are a few things you could try to fix the performance issues, specially on laptops. First, make sure that your GPU drivers are up to date. Then, you should make sure that power is plugged in while you game.
If your game is identifying your integrated GPU, try running the game via dedicated GPU. You can do that by converting your laptop to high performance mode. If nothing works, you can also try deleting your preference file.
#6 Football Manager 2017 17.1.1f899420 Error
If you are getting this message just after a windows/game update or on startup, you should make sure that your antivirus tool or any other security tool is not blocking Football Manager 2017 or Steam. You can either add an exception in the software for the game or you could disable it temporarily to see if it’s actually interfering with the game.
#7 Football Manager 2017 – Game is Already Running
First, make sure that your GPU drivers are up to date. If that doesn’t work, you can use task manager in your operating system to close the tasks related to football manager 2017.
#8 Football Manager 2017 Freezes and Crashes
If the game is shutting down your PC after it freezes, you should try the workarounds mentioned here. Just make sure that you verified everything mentioned in there before trying out other workarounds.
#9 Football Manager 2017 Black Screen Fix
If you are experiencing a black screen on game’s launch, you should try running the game in windowed mode (see #3). Make sure that your system’s resolution is same that of your game.
