The next Assassin’s Creed game is expected to release sometime next year, however, that is not a guarantee. Ubisoft has suggested that it may take even more time to perfect the next game in the series.

But since it is coming along nicely, it may not be necessary to push it to 2018. Yves has said in the past that the next Assassin’s Creed has the potential to revolutionize the series.

What we saw in the development of the next [Assassin’s Creed] was that we had an opportunity to take it to another level. So we said we’ll take all the time it takes to make the experience fantastic. It was feasible because we have other games. There’s a huge potential in this game to revolutionize the IP, so we said, “Let’s make sure we change our model so we have more time and that we can bring back a greater experience.

The title of the next game is rumored to be Assassin’s Creed Empire. Set in Egypt, this game will once again feature a brand new protagonist, even though some may have preferred seeing the return of Altair. Of course, this information is yet to be confirmed.

Ubisoft needed to take a break as the franchise was becoming dull and repetitive. We hope that the time off does wonders for the next game.
