Here’s How Days Gone Exploits The Playstation 4 Pro’s Potential
One of the more interesting games shown off at the Playstation conference at E3 2016 was a zombie apocalypse game called Days Gone. Centering on a former biker turned mercenary, Days Gone is a rather impressive-looking sight, especially given the sheer amount of zombies that players will be seeing during the course of gameplay.
Considering the greater processing power of the Playstation 4 Pro, it’s likely that all of those mobs of zombies are going to be a common sight, and with the greater power over the Playstation 4 we’ll be able to see them all in good detail.
The demo that was shown at the Days Gone E3 presentation was presented in 4K, so you can only assume that we’ll be seeing the same sort of detail when the game comes out on the Playstation 4 and the Playstation 4 Pro. In addition to the zombies, the game’s surfaces were also clearer and softer, which gave the game a sharp look.
The game’s lighting, which was evident not just through the lighting in buildings but also through fire and at least one flare fired by the protagonist, also looks extremely good in 4K, so we’ll likely be seeing more detail there as well. This likely means that the game will also include high-dynamic ranging, which allows for better lighting.
With lighting also comes particle effects from dust motes in the air, so we’ll likely be seeing that in even more detail in the game as well.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that as good as Days Gone looked on the big screen demo, that a lot of players likely won’t have 4K TVs and also won’t have the Playstation 4 Pro, so the demo we saw may not look like the final product will, but considering that the Playstation 4 Pro is coming out soon and with how good Days Gone is looking, you could hardly blame people for getting excited.
