Gears of War 4 Sales Dominate UK Charts, Only Behind FIFA 17
Released just last week, the game is already a huge hit although Gears of War 4 sales might have failed to hit the mark when it comes to units sold in the UK as FIFA 17 still holds the top spot.
The latest instalment of the Gears of War franchise, developed this time by The Coalition instead of Epic Games, Gears of War 4 sales in the UK puts the game at #2 spot in the top 10 list of the region. FIFA 17 still holds the #1 spot, 2nd week in a row, with around 100,000 units sold.
There is no information on how many units Gears of War 4 sold but considering that Mafia 3, the #3 game sold around 55,000 it is safe to assume Gears of War 4 sales in its launch week are at least 70-75,000 units.
It is also interesting to note that these sales figures are the only representative of physical copies sold and not digital sales on Xbox One and PC. Considering that, the actual number of units sold by Gears of War 4 might actually be higher than FIFA 17 this week.
Since Gears of War 4 is a Play Anywhere title, it is a safe bet that a huge number of people opted for a digital copy of the game just so they can access the game on both PC and Xbox One.
Similarly, digital is the only way to purchase the game on PC so this sales estimate which puts the game at #2 spot totally excludes the PC-only crowd.
Microsoft or The Coalition haven’t shared any actual stats about the number of units sold as of yet but things are definitely looking good for the game especially given the amazing reviews it’s been getting and the good relationship between developers and the publisher.
Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Edition also managed to reach #5 on the list despite most of its sales being on PS4 since Xbox One and PC users had already experienced the game.
