Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood is Newest Final Fantasy 14 Expansion
Final Fantasy’s last expansion, called “Heavensward“, came out around June of last year, and now it seems like Square Enix is ready to make the newest addition to the Final Fantasy MMO. Entitled Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood, Square Enix announced the expansion via a trailer just today, and it looks beautiful.
There isn’t really much to the trailer, but its imagery does show us a bit of what we’ll be in for when the expansion releases in early summer of next year. For the most part the trailer is taken up by a fairly epic martial arts fight between two characters who appear to be from the game’s monk class, the class most focused on punching and fist-fighting.
According to Square Enix, the Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood expansion will take players to a new area of the world, called Ala Mhigo. This region has been ruled by the game’s Garlean Empire for many years, but players will be entering it to try and throw of the Empire’s shackles, ruled over by the leader of the Empire’s Twelfth Legion, Yae Galvus, who you’ll obviously have to kill. However, not everyone in Ala Mhigo may want to be liberated.
According to Naoki Yoshida, the director of Final Fantasy 14, the expansion will allow players to travel more with non-player characters as you go through the expansion, giving you some company. The expansion will also give you a number of new jobs and classes to be. These are speculated to be a new Samurai tank class, a Red Mage healer class, and a Dancer class. The level cap in the game will also be increased to 70.
In addition to all of that, players that enter Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood can likely also expect new instances and raids to keep players occupied and struggling to progress until they get strong enough.
