4A Games Working On Two Projects, Explains Why They Chose VR For ARKTIKA.1
Last week 4A Games announced their upcoming game VR title Arktika.1, which the studio has been developing for the Oculus Touch. However, this announcement caused disappointment among the fans of the Metro series, and now the developer has written an open letter to their fans.
According to 4A Games, it is clear that some gamers liked the style of their upcoming game, Arktika.1, however, many were also disappointed.
It’s clear that some of you really like the look of ARKTIKA.1, and we’ll talk about that a bit more – but we also see some of you were… maybe a bit disappointed. Perhaps you prefer traditional PC / console games, and maybe you were hoping we’d announce… something else!
4A Games clarified that they are working on two projects and ARKTIKA.1 is one of the two projects. The studio further said that they are not ready to reveal details about the other game, but fans will be pleased when it is revealed.
So let me say again – ARKTIKA.1 is one of TWO projects in development right now. It’s not holding the other project up – with our new Malta studio we are a much bigger team, and it is better for us to have multiple projects, for our own independence and creativity. We’re not ready to talk about the other project just yet, but we think you’ll like it. So please be patient!
The devs also explained why they chose VR for their upcoming game. According to them, VR is very immersive and they are proud of their “ability to make immersive experiences”.
We’ve always been creating immersive games, and I think we can be rightfully proud of our success in this pursuit. Oculus has allowed us to take the immersion to a whole new level, and it would have been a shame to miss such an opportunity.
ARKTIKA.1 is a first person virtual reality shooter, and is expected to launch sometime in 2017.
