Gears of War 4 Fortifications Guide to provide you an overview of all available fortifications in the Horde Mode.

Fortifications in Gears of War 4 Horde Mode are purchased from the Fabricator and give you a chance to vastly improve your defenses, protect your flanks, and receive information about enemy movements.

As you to continue to upgrade the Fabricator, you gain access to upgraded fortifications. It is important to note that fortifications also receive damage and must be repaired by a player running the Engineer Class frequently.

For more help on Gears of War 4, read out our Heavy Class Guide, Engineer Class Guide, and Scout Class Guide.

Apart from repairing, the Engineer Class also benefit from discounted and better fortifications which is why you should always let the player running the Engineer Class purchase all the fortifications.

Our Gears of War 4 Fortifications Guide provides an overview of all available fortifications in Horde 3.0.

Barriers

This fortification slows down enemy movement and even halts them when using upgraded versions. When combined with the likes of sentries and turrets, you can easily eliminate slowed enemies.

  • Level 1 – 2000 Power – 2500 HP
  • Level 2 – 3000 Power – 4000 HP
  • Level 3 – 5000 Power – 7000 HP
  • Level 4 – 8000 Power – 11750 HP

Decoys

This fortification attracts all nearby enemies and give players a moment of respite. In doing so, decoys absorb all firepower from the enemies and must be repaired at regular intervals. Alternatively, you can overlook them with a turret and eliminate enemies from behind. At upgraded levels, decoys receive more HP.

  • Level 1 – 3000 Power – 2500 HP
  • Level 2 – 4500 Power – 4000 HP
  • Level 3 – 7000 Power – 6500 HP
  • Level 4 – 10500 Power – 10000 HP

Sentries

MG sentries automatically attack enemies when they arrive within a fixed radius of the sentries. The fortification does not require a player to operate them, but also do not pack a punch. It is a good idea to have them paired up with the likes of barrier to mow down slowed enemies. Lastly, sentries have limited amount of ammo which is refilled by the Engineer Class.

  • Level 1 – 8000 Power – 2000 HP – 300 Rounds
  • Level 2 – 10000 Power – 3000 HP – 350 Rounds
  • Level 3 – 14000 Power – 5000 HP – 450 Rounds
  • Level 4 – 22000 Power – 9000 HP – 675 Rounds

Another type of sentry is shock sentries which slow down and stun enemies. It is a good idea to place them at choke points with a little bit of cover. Like MG sentries, the ammunition is filled up the player running the Engineer Class.

  • Level 1 – 8000 Power – 1500 HP – 15 Rounds
  • Level 2 – 10000 Power – 2500 HP – 20 Rounds
  • Level 3 – 14000 Power – 4000 HP – 25 Rounds
  • Level 4 – 22000 Power – 6500 HP – 30 Rounds

Turrets

This fortification is much more powerful than sentries, but require a player to operate them. It does have decent amount of damage which begins to fall off at long range. Moreover, you cannot fire turrets for indefinite period of time.

The fortification can overheat preventing you from firing any further for a short duration of time. With sentries, you need the Engineer Class in order to replenish its ammo.

  • Level 1 – 10000 Power – 4000 HP – 200 Rounds
  • Level 2 – 15000 Power – 6000 HP – 275 Rounds
  • Level 3 – 25000 Power – 8000 HP – 350 Rounds
  • Level 4 – 40000 Power – 12000 HP – 500 Rounds

Weapons Locker

This fortification basically lets your teammates put their weapons into it and get it back fully loaded after a short duration of time. Keeping its value in mind, it is generally a good idea to place the fortification in a place which is hard for enemies to hit.

Moreover, you should try and get the upgraded version to store more number of weapons.

  • Level 1 – 6000 Power – 2000 HP – 1 Weapon
  • Level 2 – 7500 Power – 3000 HP – 2 Weapons
  • Level 3 – 10500 Power – 5250 HP – 3 Weapons
  • Level 4 – 15000 Power – 10000 HP – 4 Weapons
