new Gears Of War 4 update

Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Sniper Class Guide to help you learn how to play the class, what cards to run, and how to build.

Snipers in Horde 3.0 greatly benefit from staying away from the action and still dealing significant amount of damage. Moreover, as you continue to grow them, they get deadlier and improve their markings.

The only downside of running the sniper class, in my opinion, is its steep learning curve. If you are gifted with decent accuracy and are good with a sniper rifle, you can do some serious damage – especially in the early game.

Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Sniper Class Guide

It is important to note that the sniper class tends to fall behind others when it comes to dealing damage to bosses, but it is not something you cannot work on as it all comes down to your accuracy at the end of the day.

Another important job that you must undertake while running the sniper class is to mark enemies and protect your team’s flanks.

In our Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Sniper Class Guide, we have discussed everything you need to learn about playing the class.

Starting Loadout – Longshot, Snub Pistol, and Markza Mk1

Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Sniper Class Skills

Explosive Headshot – Your Headshots Kills Explode
This skill basically lays everything down as to why having good precision with your sniper rifle can really benefit you. It basically makes an enemy explode if you eliminate it with a headshot – and the explosion damages nearby enemies. However, the damage and radius of the explosion is dependent of the skill level.

  • Level 1 – 50 Percent – 2.5m
  • Level 2 – 75 Percent – 2.75m
  • Level 3 – 100 Percent – 3m
  • Level 4 – 125 Percent – 3.25m
  • Level 5 – 150 Percent – 3.5m

Headshot Damage – Additional 20 Percent Damage Per Level
Both Longshot and Markza Mk1 are already lethal weapon and this skill even cranks up the damage a notch. As evident from its name, this skill increases the damage dealt by headshot depending upon the level of the skill. Another reason why you need to be accurate with your weapons while running the sniper class.

  • Level 1 – 20 Percent
  • Level 2 – 40 Percent
  • Level 3 – 60 Percent
  • Level 4 – 80 Percent
  • Level 5 – 100 Percent

Mark Boost – Mark Upto 2 Enemies Per Level
This is a great skill to have if you want to play more of a supportive role, but is not really required if you have good communication between you and your teammates. This skill basically allows you to mark more and more enemies depending upon the level of the skill. If you are worried about protecting your flanks or unpleasant surprises, this one is definitely for you.

  • Level 1 – Up to 2 Enemies
  • Level 2 – Up to 3 Enemies
  • Level 3 – Up to 4 Enemies
  • Level 4 – Up to 5 Enemies
  • Level 5 – Up to 6 Enemies

Precision Rifle Capacity – Additional 20 Percent Ammo Per Level
If you are more of an aggressive player, this is one great skill to have at your disposal. This skill basically allows you to carry more ammo on your precision rifles depending upon the level of this skill.

  • Level 1 – 20 Percent
  • Level 2 – 40 Percent
  • Level 3 – 60 Percent
  • Level 4 – 80 Percent
  • Level 5 – 100 Percent

Precision Rifle Damage – Additional 10 Percent Damage Per Level
This is an important skill to have as it increases the damage dealt by the precision rifles at your disposal depending upon the level of this skill. It does not matter whether you are more of a supportive role or prefer an aggressive approach, you cannot go wrong with this skill.

  • Level 1 – 10 Percent
  • Level 2 – 20 Percent
  • Level 3 – 30 Percent
  • Level 4 – 40 Percent
  • Level 5 – 50 Percent

Precision Rifle Reload – Additional 10 Percent Reload Speed Per Level
Once again, if you prefer to go all in and aggressive, you need to have this skill since the reloading speed of Longshot is painfully sluggish. With enemies trying to rush you or your teammates, you never want to be caught reloading.

Of course, you can always swap to your pistol which is faster than reloading, but the damage is not there which is why this skill is good.

  • Level 1 – 10 Percent
  • Level 2 – 20 Percent
  • Level 3 – 30 Percent
  • Level 4 – 40 Percent
  • Level 5 – 50 Percent

Fabricator Option – Radar Ping
Although exclusive to sniper class, this skill is added to the Fabricator and marks all enemies when activated. It can be really helpful on high waves where you need every bit of information on enemies in order to help you plan your strategy accordingly.

Moreover, remember that with each skill level, you decrease the activation cost.

  • Level 1 – Default
  • Level 2 – 10 Percent Cost Reduction
  • Level 3 – 25 Percent Cost Reduction
  • Level 4 – 35 Percent Cost Reduction
  • Level 5 – 50 Percent Cost Reduction

Recommended Build

As with other class guides, it varies from player to player and the type of Team Comp. you are running that should dictate your build. However, we have found Headshot Damage, Mark Boost, Precision Rifle Reload, Precision Rifle Damage, and Sniper Strike to a great overall!

The reason why we have damage is because we prefer an aggressive approach when it comes to sniper class. If you, however, like to lay back, you can simply swap Precision Rifle Damage with Radar Ping in order to help your teammates out at higher waves.

Moreover, as evident from the entire guide, you need to be accurate with your shots otherwise there is no point running this build.

This is all we have on Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Sniper Class Guide. If there is anything else you would like to add, let us know in the comments section below!
