As the name suggests, the basic job of the engineer class is building and repairing fortifications which are an important part of succeeding in Horde 3.0. The skillset at this class’s disposal allow you to take advantage of low cost builds and greatly improve your defenses.

Barrier Cost – 8 Percent Discount Per Level
This skill reduces the cost of getting Barrier from the Fabricator depending upon the level of this skill. Once equipped, you need to ensure that you let the player running the engineer class get all the fortifications or you are wasting the skill.

Level 1 – 8 Percent
Level 2 – 16 Percent
Level 3 – 24 Percent
Level 4 – 32 Percent
Level 5 – 40 Percent

Barrier Health – Additional 10 Percent Barrier Health Per Level
This skill allows your barriers to have additional health depending upon the level of this skill. However, one important thing that you need to note is that it only increases the HP of barriers which are place by engineer class and no one else.

Level 1 – 10 Percent
Level 2 – 20 Percent
Level 3 – 30 Percent
Level 4 – 40 Percent
Level 5 – 50 Percent

Decoy Cost – 8 Percent Discount Per Level
This skill reduces the cost of getting decoys from the Fabricator depending upon the level of this skill. Once equipped, you need to ensure that you let the player running the engineer class get all the fortifications or you are wasting the skill.

Repair Boost – Additional 20 Percent Efficiency Per Level
This skill is basically the soul of the engineer class and the class is not of much use without this skill. It basically allows the engineer class to repair faster and cheaper depending upon the level of this skill. You need to have it at your disposal and leveled up it to max if you want to good at your role.

Level 1 – 20 Percent – 20 Percent
Level 2 – 40 Percent – 30 Percent
Level 3 – 60 Percent – 40 Percent
Level 4 – 80 Percent – 50 Percent
Level 5 – 100 Percent – 60 Percent

Sentry Capacity – Additional 10 Percent Ammo Per Level
This skill basically allows the sentries built by the engineer class to have additional ammo depending upon the level of this skill. Sentries can easily protect your flanks and have extra firepower to tear through enemy lines.

Level 1 – 10 Percent
Level 2 – 20 Percent
Level 3 – 30 Percent
Level 4 – 40 Percent
Level 5 – 50 Percent

Sentry Speed – Additional 10 Percent Rate of Fire
This skill allows you to have increased rate of fire depending upon the skill of this level. Sentries can easily protect your flanks and have extra firepower to tear through enemy lines which is why it is ag good idea to have as much of them out on the field as possible.

Level 2 – 20 Percent
Level 3 – 30 Percent
Level 4 – 40 Percent
Level 5 – 50 Percent

Turret Cost – 8 Percent Discount Per Level
This skill reduces the cost of getting turrets from the Fabricator depending upon the level of this skill. Once equipped, you need to ensure that you let the player running the engineer class get all the turrets or you are wasting the skill.

Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Engineer Class Build

As we have already discussed in our other Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Class Guides, it eventually comes to individual playstyle and the type of Team Comp. you are running which should dictate your build.

If you, however, want to play to the strengths of Engineer Class, you should definitely check out a combination of Build Cost, Fortification Health, Repair Boost, Sentry Capacity, and Sentry Speed.

This build basically revolves around the strengths of the Engineer Class. You do not have to dish out crazy amount of damage in order to be relevant as a squad member.

All you need to do while running this build is to make sure that you are placing the fortifications actively and repairing them regularly – because you gain advantage from discounts.
