PlayStation 4 Sales Up By 380 Percent, Claimed Overall Market Of 57%
Last week we reported that Xbox One S stormed the UK market and the release of Xbox One S 500 GB and 1 TB versions of the console saw the rise of 989 per cent week-on-week for Microsoft’s console. Well things have turned around, as PlayStation 4 sales were up 380% last week.
According to a report from MCVUK, PlayStation 4 has returned to the top of the UK charts following the a number of cut-price bundles. The report suggests that PlayStation 4 sales climbed 380 per cent week-on-week thanks to the 359 per cent boost to original PS4 sales for the week ending on October 1st. Also, the overall sales of PlayStation 4 were 55 percent higher than Xbox One.
On the other hand sales for Xbox One S only fell by just 16 per cent, which is dams impressive given that the sales for this console was 989 per cent up for the previous week. Also Xbox One S sales were 24 percent higher compared to PlayStation 4 Slim, however, the PlayStation 4 claimed the overall market share of 57 per cent.
The report also states that the spike in PlayStation 4 sales was followed widespread deals from various retailers including Tesco, GAME, Argos and ShopTo, who offered original PlayStation 4 with a copy of either FIFA 17 or LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens for just £149 – £110.
It is clear that this move was to clear the old stock for the original PlayStation 4 ahead of efforts to shift the slim console in the run-up to Christmas.
