The Pokemon Company and Nintendo has a long standing relationship that saw majority of Pokemon games released across Nintendo handhelds for years. Meanwhile, Pokemon games on Nintendo consoles have been scarce. However, things will change as the company is planning to fully support Nintendo NX with Pokemon games.

Seeing both companies partnering for NX is not surprising at all. But rumor has it that NX is a hybrid of console and handheld so one wonders if Pokemon games will release for NX or console, or both at the same time? We’ll know once the machine is unveiled.

Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara spoke to The Wall Street Journal and stated:

The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device. We will make games for the NX.

The next major installment in the series is Pokemon Sun and Moon which is releasing in November for 3DS. Both games may release for NX as well when the console hits the market in March. Nothing is made official regarding Pokemon Sun and Moon as we only have confirmation for future unknown Pokemon titles.

What are they and when will they be revealed for NX is anyone’s guess at this point.

As for Nintendo NX, it is set for this week via Nintendo Direct, according to SuperMetaldave64. The console/handheld hybrid has been in the news for a while without any official word regarding its specs or shape. But SuperMetaldave64 mentioned that NX is right around the corner.

The console is believed to be using cartridges and industry watchers say that it could help bring back this outdated medium.
