Remedy Entertainment Branching Out Towards Multiplayer Games
Remedy Entertainment is known for the singleplayer experiences like Max Payne, Max Payne 2 and Alan Wake. The studio has stuck to just singleplayer games with an exception for their iOS remake of Death Rally.
However, they are about spice things up a bit.
Remedy Entertainment has announced in a recent blog post that the studio is branching out towards multiplayer games.
According to Game Director Mikael Kasurinen and Creative Director Sam Lake, singleplayer games has always been important for the studio, but it is time that they challenge themselves.
Single-player experience has always been an important focus for us. At the same time, we want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer.
They further added that the studio will try to be the best storyteller they have been known for but they believe that a multiplayer experience combined with their world building will create something exceptional.
We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players’ cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy’s unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that.
The developers has also announced that they have an opening for a Lead Network Programmer at Remedy Entertainment, who will be at the center of it all.
So with that in mind, we have opened a position for a Lead Network Programmer, who will be at the center of developing and shaping the multiplayer technology and features of Northlight.
Currently Remedy Entertainment is working on CrossFire 2 which was announced at ChinaJoy 2016. South Korean MMO developer Smilegate confirmed that CrossFire 2 is in development in collaboration with Max Payne and Alan Wake developer.
Recently, Sony announced PlayStation 4 Pro, and since its reveal the developers have been talking about it impact on the gaming industry and how it will change things. While many are comparing PlayStation 4 Pro with Microsoft’s Xbox One Scorpio, Remedy Entertainment thinks that Xbox One Scorpio is a sequel to Xbox One and PS4 Pro is an high end PlayStation 4.
