No Man’s Sky has been launched, and while the game has been a financial success due to the hype, the game has failed to impress critics and gamers alike. Soon after the release gamers started to ask for refunds, and now almost a month has passed since the game’s launch and still some gamers are asking for refunds despite playing it for substantial amount of time.

A reddit user has posted an e-mail from PlayStation Australia support. In the e-mail the company states that they are “aware of comments online from some players expressing disappointment with the release features of No Man’s Sky”. The e-mail further states that PlayStation will not provide any refund for any games, add-ons, consumables, PS Video or season passes that has been started to download.

The most interesting thing is what PlayStation Australia said about the development of No Man’s Sky and almost admitted that Hello Games has failed to deliver on its promise.

Hello Games made choices during this development which they believed would provide the best experience for the players. No Man’s Sky was intended to be something unique, vast and inventive, and we feel Hello Games delivered that.”

On the other hand one of the clause of Sony’s Published policy clearly states that “Digital content that you have started downloading, streaming and in-game consumables that have been delivered, are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty”. The company does not think that No Man’s Sky falls under this bracket, which is kind of disappointing since the game has many cases of crashes and freezes.

No Man’s Sky has been such a disaster that many gamers on Steam asked for a refund, even though they had played to considerable time. However, Steam has made it clear that standard refund policy is applied to No Man’s Sky. Now those players who has playes the game for more than 2 hours will not get a refund.

The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store.
