New Gears of War 4 Horde Trailer Outlines Upcoming Mode
On Tuesday IGN posted a sneak-peek video of how the upcoming Horde 3.0 mode in Gears of War 4 would work. Now, a new Gears of War 4 Horde trailer has given us a solid outline of everything that we can expect to see when the game comes out October 11, including character classes, structures, and enemies.
Gears of War 4’s Horde mode will be the third iteration of the game mode, and as such will have a wide variety of different adjustments and improvements. To start with, we’ve got the character classes. Rather than just going with individual characters that all have the same loadout, the new Gears of War 4 Horde trailer shows off five different character classes that each have their own equipment and specialties.
There’s the Sniper, the long-range specialist. Equipped with a sniper rifle, they can pick out other enemies and decapitate them with one well-placed headshot, or help soften a tough enemy up from a distance. Next, there’s the Engineer, who can help build fortifications and turrets.
Then we have the Soldier, the all-around class that can take on any situation guns a-blazing. Next there’s the Scout, the fast-mover, who can run faster than the other classes and go in and out, and can see enemies through walls to know just where to strike. Finally, there’s the Heavy, the heavy weapon specialist that can make everything go boom.
In the rest of the new Gears of War 4 Horde trailer, we get to see that we’ll be taking on both the Swarm and the robots that were shown in the game’s Gamescom footage. We even get to see some new units from both, like a helicopter for the robots and numerous other giant monsters from the Swarm, including a Seeder-like enemy that spits out flying, exploding polyps like missiles.
Gears of War 4 isn’t supposed to come out until October, but since The Coalition’s already had one beta there’s no reason they can’t have another to test out Horde mode, or bring it to PAX to show it off.
