Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra recently teased popular RTS Age of Empires for Xbox One via his official Twitter feed.

The tweet also showed statue of an elephant – the animal is a key unit in AoE games. You can find the said tweet attached after the break.

This is obviously not the first time Microsoft has teased the immensely popular RTS game. Earlier this year, someone asked Microsoft’s Bill Gates about a new Age of Empires game during a Reddit AMA session.

And Gates being his usual-self replied that he would look into the matter:

I will look into this. How many empires do you need?

Apart from this, it goes without saying that Microsoft has been showing interest in the franchise for quite some time now. The company opened a new studio in Redmond specifically for real-time strategy genre.

Age of Empires 3 was released back in 2005 so it has been more than 10 years since fans have been wanting a new AOE game. The company recently cancelled Fable Legends because the game did not have a huge fan following. Hopefully, this will not be the case with AOE.

If this AOE for Xbox One tease indeed means anything concrete, I would love Microsoft to throw keyboard/mouse support in as well.
